In Memoriam
Ma’am Rachael was many things to many people - and her absence is felt deeply.
As someone with an intimate knowledge of suffering, it is remarkable how much she translated her life's work into making sure suffering was palliated for others. The most enduring part of that legacy are the PEOPLE she guided and nurtured to continue to advocate for palliative care, and ensure accessible service delivery to those in need.
The PSHPM family are grateful to have been part of her story. Our prayers and condolences go out to her Yunque and Rosario families.
Until we meet again, Mam Rache - you will be missed.

2021 Highlight Reel
Day 2: Case Panel Discussion on Ethical Dilemmas in Palliative Care
-
Case 1: “The Runaway Bride”
Dilemma:
In the event of the legal decision maker leaving/abandoning an unconscious patient and decisions need to be made for this patient’s care, who do we ask?
-
Case 2: “To Do or Not To Do”
Dilemma:
* Will you follow the patient’s verbal desire that she doesn’t want to be dependent in a Mechanical Ventilator
-
Case 3: “Voiceless”
Dilemma:
* How should we treat the principle of autonomy when the patient is a minor?
-
Case 4: “The Prodigal Father”
Dilemma
In this case of difficulty in establishing identity and relationships between patients and relatives, who do we call on for decisions on advance care directives?
